Who is Alvaro Romano?

During the 80s Master Alvaro Romano decided to spread the world his lifestyle and his quality of life. After having his university degree and post degree in Physical Education, he decided to develop a workout technology beyond of everything that was ever done before: Ginastica Natural®.

In the beginning, Alvaro Romano perfected a type of training he would do on his own to, later, apply in class. For the safety of those practicing it, he conducted an in-depth study into the movements. His first experience applying Ginastica Natural® techniques was with himself and the athletes he trained.

Founder and creator of the Ginastica Natural® method, Alvaro Romano has a Post-Graduate degree in Physical Education and Recreation, author of the book “Ginastica Natural®” (Press Publishing House, 1987), Romano is also present in the collection “An anthology on physical activities” (Midiograf Publishing, 1987).

Alvaro Romano studied a wealth of different oriental techniques. As a practitioner of Hatha Yoga, his aim was to improve his performance as an athlete, with training for sports as the central theme, to after begin developing his own body of work.

A world-fitness leader and a specialist in Health and Quality of life, he implements Ginastica Natural® as a revolutionary physical-fitness and health-improvement around the world, through hundreds of seminars, workshops and instructor trainings. Ginastica Natural has been introduced in many countries like Italy, Sweden, Norway, China, Japan, United Kingdom, Portugal, Finland, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Peru, Mexico, Panama, Australia, Brazil and the United States.

He taught Ginastica Natural® courses for the Physical Therapy and Physical Education department’s of Estacio de Sa University in Brazil.

Alvaro Romano has applied Ginastica Natural® expertise to agents of the FBI, DEA and SWAT in Washington DC. He participated as a Physical Conditioning coach in various MMA, Jiu-Jitsu, Surfing, Bodyboarding, Soccer, Alpine skiing events.

Top athletes of a wide range of modalities have tested and approved Ginastica Natural: Fighters Anderson Silva, Junior dos Santos, Vitor Belfort, Georges St-Pierre, Rodrigo Minotauro, Rogerio Minotouro, Demian Maia, Fabricio Camoes, Mark Munoz, Roger Gracie, Rani Yahya Jiu-Jitsu legends Alexandre Ribeiro, Saulo Ribeiro, Gilbert Durinho, Leticia Ribeiro, surfers Andy Irons (in memorian), Fred Pattachia, Mark Healey, Neco Padaratz, Cirque du Solei’s “O” Junior Faitau, soccer player Ronaldo “Fenomeno” Lima, among others.

At the invitation of physiotherapist Nilton Petrone, he applied Ginastica Natural exercises to help rehabilitate injured soccer player superstar Ronaldo for the World Cup of 2002.

Alvaro Romano is a Jiu-Jitsu black belt under legendary Master Rolls Gracie, Carlos Gracie Junior and Rickson Gracie. He is also a brown belt in judo, participated in triathlon races and long-distance swimming and one of the first surfers in Rio de Janeiro to practice Jiu-Jitsu.

He was present at the first “Ultimate Fighting Championship” in Denver, Colorado, in 1993 with the Gracie Family.

Nowadays, Alvaro Romano travels the world to spread Ginastica Natural® through seminars and workshops.
